'''St Cuthbert's Society, normally referred to as Cuth's''', occurs as college-level body of the University of Durham in England. It was founded around 1888 to cater for non-resident students & is known as when Cuthbert of Lindisfarne. St Cuthbert's was a third of Durham's collegial bodies to become founded, as a result University and Hatfield College. These are placed in Durham's "peninsula", so is considered one of a 'Bailey' colleges. St Cuthbert's foundation as a Society differed from either that of the earliest colleges therein it was founded by its students like than constituted per university. Many more Societies followed, including St Aidan's Society (today St Aidan's College) and the Graduate Society (now Ustinov College), but St Cuthbert's is now the only remaining Society. When such, it retains the select few structural differences from either the colleges - for instance, a position of President of the Society occurs as student position like than a staff 1; though there exists as well a staff Principal. A Society owns accommodation through Durham, but virtually all central facilities come provided at its independent places in South Bailey. Luminary among these is the bar, which is the merely Durham college bar to use at times regular day besides when evening opening.
